K103 is first community talk radio of the nation, based in Kahnawake and worked for Mohawk Radio Kahnawake Association. In March 1981, the roots of CKRK-FM was found when Conway Jocks together with Mohawk Radio Broadcasting started an FM station on 103.5 MHz frequency with 50 w transmitter. The area of the transmitter would be Kanawake reserves alongside other regions of Montreal to the St. Lawrence's South Shore. The transmission would be held in the English Language. The initial format of the station was Country, but then it flipped into Hip Hop and AC later. In April 1994, the frequency change and wattage increase of K103 were approved by Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunication Commission; the new frequency was set to 103.7 MHz with ERP increase to 250 w. In 1994, an unincorporated organization from Conway Jocks got the ownership of K103’s assets.
